Boots Optiva Range Review (Cleanser, Serum, Moisturiser and Body Lotion)

Tuesday 29 April 2014

Recently Boots was released in Australia and is exclusively sold at Amcal, Amcal Max and Guardian Pharmacies.

There are three ranges available. Optiva which is all about youthful radiant skin, Serum7 for those that love using anti-aging products and Serum7 Lift
which is suitable for those concerned with wrinkles.

I was sent 4 Optiva products to trial, and have mentioned them on the blog over the last 6 weeks. Because I was sent 3 skincare products, I wanted to be able to really have the time to use them before reviewing them.

To limit any irritation, I added one product into my routine each week over 3 weeks, so some products I've been using for longer than others.

The Optiva range hydrates your skin for up to 24 hours and is formulated to reveal healthier looking skin in just 2 weeks (when used with the serum).

Here's what I think of the range...

Skin Balancing Cleanser*

This is a cream cleanser with a liquid consistency.
I apply this both in the morning and at night. In the morning, I rub this into my skin and then use a face washer to wash it off. At night I first use a make up remover (like Bioderma or Antipodes Grapeseed Butter Cleanser) and then follow up with this cleanser to make sure my face is clean and free from make up.

You don't have to use water to remove this, just a cloth or make up remover pad. Personally I prefer to follow up with a splash of water after using a cloth to remove it as I feel cleaner when I've used water (it's totally in my head!!)

While I've enjoyed using this, I've found that I have used it quite quickly because of its liquid consistency.

They also have a foaming cleanser called Radiance Renew Foaming Wash.

This retails for $14.00 for 150ml.

Aqua-Capture Serum*

This serum has truly captured my heart.

It's the perfect consistency. It's not too thick or too thin. It provides enough hydration, but doesn't feel heavy or oily.

I use this after toning in both the morning and night.

The packaging is easy to use and is perfect for travelling. While it looks small, you really don't need much. I've only used a third of the tube, even with twice a day application over the last month.

This is a fantastic serum that would be perfect for anyone on a budget or someone that's getting into serums and is looking at buying their first one.

This retails for $24.00 for 30ml.

Comforting Day Cream*

This is the other stand out product.

It's a fantastic moisturiser that I've been using both morning and night. It's light but still moisturising. It sinks into my skin easily and quickly.

It works well underneath my make up and doesn't make me feel oily.

It helps to protect your skin, and contains SPF15. I still apply a SPF 30 sunscreen too!

There's also a night cream from the same range.

It retails for $22.00 for 40ml.

Comforting Body Balm*

This is a really lovely light moisturiser. It helps to hydrate your skin for up to 24 hours, without leaving your skin oily or greasy.

I love the packaging, as it's easy to use even with slippery fingers. I apply this each morning, while my skin is still slightly damp.

It retails for $16.00 for 150ml.

I love that the range is so affordable, but still delivers results.

If you don't live near a stockist, you can also order online from Amcal here. Amcal currently have the Optiva range on sale for HALF PRICE!!! How awesome is that. Get in quick.

Have you picked up any of the Boots range yet?
Amy, XO

  2. I think the cleanser was in beautyheaven's beautorium and I considered it but hadn't found any reviews on it so decided to pass thinking I'd be able to find it in stores.

There are no Amcal stores near me so thank you for sharing the deal, I want to try that day cream the half price sale is awfully tempting!
