These Are A Few Of My Favourite Things... January 2016

Saturday 13 February 2016

I've been a bad blogger this month and I'm late with my January favourites. I've had a hectic start to the month as my husband just got back from an overseas work trip and then my oldest daughter started school!!! I'm trying to get into a routine but have failed miserably at it for the last 2 weeks!

I'm trying to keep up to date on my Instagram and Facebook, so follow me there for regular beauty posts.

Anyway.... let's get onto my favourites...

Make Up

I purchased the Red Earth Earth Colour Eye Shadow Palette in "Violet Skies" in the Boxing Day sales and I've been obsessed with it since. The colours are striking and I adore the fact that it's more adventurous than my usual neutrals.

Another product that I've been using a lot of is the Too Faced Chocolate Bar Palette. I've had this for a while, but have really been enjoying it over the last 6-8 weeks. I like that it has enough colours in one palette to do a smokey eye but it's also wearable for the school run.

I love the Napoleon Perdis Miss Pink Mist Boudoir Blush* because it makes my skin look glowing rather than obviously being a blush. I like to apply it either with a sponge or my Real Techniques Triangle Foundation Brush. You can also spray it onto your face.

One new product that I picked up is the Innoxa Brow Enhancer. It has fibers in it so it gives your brows fullness, rather than just a tint like most drugstore brow products. The downside is that I do need to use more of it than most brow tints so I can see myself going through this quickly.

The Inika Pure Primer came in this pack that I bought and I'm obsessed with it! It doesn't have a silicone feeling, more like a lightweight moisturiser. It sits lovely underneath my make up especially in the heatwave that Adelaide has been having in January. I'll have to pick up the full size version.

Skincare

The Hylamide C25 is a serum booster that you can use by itself as a serum or as an extra step alongside your serum. I normally apply this and then apply my serum. It's a vitamin C serum, so I'm hoping that it will help address my hyperpigmentation. It has a lightweight oil feel that sinks into my skin quickly.

I normally have about 56 lipbalms in my handbag but the other week I couldn't find any so I picked up the Burt's Bees Coconut & Pear Moisturising Lip Balm from the chemist. It smells beautiful (and how could it not with a mix of coconut and pear) and feels hydrating on my lips. I like that it's lightweight, so I can apply it 5 minutes before using lipstick and it has sunk into my lips and it doesn't alter the lipstick consistency.

I'm loving the Mecca Cosmetica To Save Face SPF50+ Superscreen which is strange as their original SPF30+ sunscreen didn't wow me. I'm going to have to pick up a full size tube.

Body & Hair

Another new release that I bought is the Lush The Comforter Shower Cream. I ADORE the scent of this. It's uplifting yet calming at the same time. I try to hide this from my 4 year old as i don't want to share it!

The Nivea Irresistibly Smooth Body Souffle* is a super hydrating moisturiser that has kept my skin feeling soft and smooth this last month. Even though the tub isn't very large, it barely looks like I've used it as you only need a small amount.

I picked up the L'Oreal Mythic Oil Nourishing Masque on a whim as it was on sale in Chemist Warehouse and it's completely blew me away. It works in 3-5 minutes and is so hydrating on my hair. I'll be picking up another one when this is finished.

And finally I picked up the Lady Jayne Style Guards (not pictured). They look like old school telephone cords with their wrap around plastic look. At first I wasn't sure how these would work as my hair is quite long, but I've been really impressed. I normally use these when I'm at home or for putting my hair up in a bun.

Who else is struggling with getting back into the school groove?
Amy, XO

  3. I love to know about Red Earth Palette, it looks beautiful. At my local DJ it was 20$ on boxing day but I skip it because I have not heard this brand before.
