First Impressions: Revlon ColorStay Ultimate Suede in "High Heels" (030)

Friday 12 April 2013

I picked this up, along with "It Girl" (060), when they were released a month or so ago, and have only just gotten around to using it!! (Isn't it such a beauty blogger problem that I have too many lip products, and only one set of lips!)

When I bought this, Priceline had a 2 for 1 special on Revlon, so I picked up two of the lighter colours. Before purchasing it, I hadn't really researched it but had seen it pop up on youTube. I picked two lighter colours, as I've been buying up so many bright colours (hello Maybelline Vivids!!) and lots of reds.

I really love the packaging. It's sleek, and easy to use. Also when you wind up/down the lipstick, it "clicks." I'm not sure why, but it pleases me so much! (I'm easily impressed by the little things).

I adore the colour. It's a gorgeous shimmery pink, that's so wearable for everyday. It's also the perfect colour for when I'm going for a girly pink look.

As for the consistency, it goes on really smoothly and feels hydrating. However, after about 20 minutes, it starts to feel tacky. To combat this, I apply a plain lipbalm (like Neutrogena Naturals Lip Balm or Maybelline "Baby Lips") to get rid of the tackiness and put moisture back into my lips.

I have seen youTubers say that the lipstick is incredibly drying, but in all the videos I saw they had really dark colours. So I'm not sure if the darker colours feel drier, or they have tweaked the formula since the initial release.

Because it has the ColorStay formula, the colour lasts quite a long time. Since the colour is a baby pink, it doesn't stand out like a red would, but I noticed the colour lasted for about 5-6 hours, even after eating.

I think this lipstick is a great base, when you want colourful lips all day. For me,
I would apply this, and then apply a similar coloured lipgloss over it, so I not only get all day colour, but also have moisturised lips.

I want to get one of their reds or plums soon to see how the darker colours perform.

Have you used these? Are you still in love with your Revlon Lip Butters?
XO

  1. I haven't tried these because of the bad reviews about the tackiness and I'm not much of a lipgloss combo girl unless it's a night out. Still loving every single one of my lip butters though (have 16) haha!

  2. That is such a pretty pink, I received a suede in a GWP I don't think I have even looked at it because it's red and I don't wear red. Going to go pull it out now and have a play.

  3. I have two of the darker colours of this lipstick and hate them, I think you are probably right that the darker colours might be different formula. I love the colour of that one though, very wearable for every day.

  4. I've been reluctant to try these too because a girl at work bought one and absolutely hated the drying formula. She only favours lighter shades so I don't think the colour is the problem :(
