First Impressions Review: Models Prefer Moisture Lust Glossy Lip Tint in "Tutti Frutti" and "Raspberry Ripple"

Saturday 18 May 2013

Hi beauties!

I was hoping to bring you this post on Thursday, but of course my internet connection was down :(

I really love Models Prefer products. Not only are they inexpensive, they also have a great range of colours for every type of skintone.

These 2 MP lip products are their newest offering. I saw them instore and picked up one. After trying it, I went back to Priceline and picked up another.

I've already blogged about my love of their Moisture Lust Lipstick, so I had high expectations of these. Luckily they have even out wow'ed the lipsticks.

Their packaging reminds me of the Revlon Balm Stains. They are thick and chubby, and so easy to hold and apply to your lips.

The outer packaging is coloured similar to what the lip colour is, so it's easy to identify.

It also has the name of the colour on the back and the bottom of the stick.

"Raspberry Ripple" is a gorgeous red raspberry colour.

They're so smooth on your lips, and easy to apply. I can apply these without a mirror and still know that it looks fine (Don't you love a foolproof lip product!).

On the left is two light swatches, while on the right is about 4 heavier swatches. This colour is more of a darker colour and you don't need to build it up as much as you would a baby pink.

The above photo was taken with a flash. You can see that the colour looks really juicy. On the lips, the more you layer the more juicy and lipglossy it looks. If you just apply one or two light layers it isn't as glossy.

And here's "Tutti Frutti"...

The outer packaging is slightly more orange than "Raspberry Ripple."

I didn't notice this when I bought it, but this one is more of a glittery shimmery tint.

It's also a softer colour and if you want a bright lip, then you need more layers. But as you apply more layers, you get a bolder colour but more glitter, so for me it's not an everyday lip colour. But it looks beautiful applied over "Raspberry Ripple" or any other matte or plain lipgloss/lipstick.

Here's a photo with flash, so you can see how much glitter shows up when you do 4 heavier swatches. Underneath is one light swatch. As you can see the colour isn't too obvious, and neither is the glitter.

These lip tints are exactly that. A tint, unlike the Revlon Balm Stains. While they are a tint, I did get about 3-4 hours of wear from them before they disappeared. I like that these don't stain my lips and leave me with patches of colour like the Revlon ones do. These just slowly disappear and leave my lips feeling moisturised. I can even apply these without first applying a plain balm underneath.

Since buying these, I have only touched the MP Moisture Lust Lipsticks twice. I adore the lipsticks, but these lip tints are AMAZING!!! They are a great everyday lip product. I get a beautiful colour with the "Raspberry Ripple" but with only a small amount of effort. It's a great way of having red lips, without having to touch lipstick.

I'll be picking up more of these!!

The best part about these is the price. The lipsticks are $11.99, but these glosses are only $7.99 at Priceline. I'm not 100% sure how many colours there are (as I forgot to take note instore) but I think there's about 7 or 8. There is a light pink, bright pink, nude and a coffee coloured one.

If you want this, get into Priceline asap, because when you purchase these until Monday 20th May, Priceline will donate $1 from the sale to the PANDA charity. PANDA helps support women (including their families) who are suffering from Post and Antenatal Depression.

Will you be picking up these? If you have a review on them, link your review in the comments so I can see the other colours.

  3. Have you tried the Face of Australia sheer lip crayons? They come in a pack of 3 for $15 and even though they came out awhile ago my priceline still has them and k-mart has them too but sometimes not on the FOA stand. They sound similar to these but all 3 colours don't have glitter so perfect for everyday lips :)
These look really interesting! Enjoy your weekend!

  4. I spotted these in Priceline recently and they look gorgeous! I can't justify buying and more lip products at the moment but these were seriously tempting, I like that they have glittery shades which is a change from all the other lip crayons around at the moment.

  7. Great review! These look fantastic, and what a great price too. I've got one of the Moisture Lust lipsticks, and again, for the money it is a great lipstick, so I will definitely be looking into the lip tints as well..

  8. It looks great and such a great intiative with PANDA that Priceline is doing. I do like that if you wanted a softer colour, the glitter doesnt show up too much

  9. I'd buy one of these to try just to donate to the PANDA charity because it's close to my heart. I have so many of the Revlon balm stains so it's interesting to hear how these compare and that they are in fact different!

  10. Ooh boy these are tempting too. You are featuring way too many awesome lip products Amy; I'll be broke next time I visit Priceline! ;) (Kidding, I love to hear about stuff like this as I'm not close to a Priceline most days of my working week, so I don't get much of a chance to browse there!)

  11. I have just bought black cherry after reading your review and unfortunately I don't like it :-(. The colour is very subtle that can be built up which is great when you want a more soft lip colour, but it is the taste that really puts me off. I wore it for the first time today and I don't think that I will be using it again due to that. I am going to give it to my daughter and see what she thinks. I am glad that you like it though :-)

    1. I was a little hesitant to try this ‘large crayon looking thing’ and must admit I probably never would have if I didn’t get it for free. I also wasn’t a total fan of pink, but I actually love this tint. I don’t find it very glossy as the name suggests but I do find it moisturizing and lightweight. ‘Pink Frosting’ is noticeably pink and not a natural looking, although it is subtle and soft looking.
For a cheap, nourishing lip tint, you really can’t go wrong.
Available in three colours; Bubble Gum, Orange Sherbet and Pink frosting
      RRP: $7.99
Where: Priceline – online and instore

(Disclaimer – this product was a bonus product when something else was purchased)
