These Are A Few Of My Favourite Things... May 2014

Tuesday 3 June 2014

In May I started using quite a few new products... and also have said goodbye to a few favourites, which you'll see later in my empties. Here's what I've loved in the month of May.

Hair

bHave Rescue Intense Shampoo* & Conditioner*

Of course it can't be a favourites post without mentioning my beloved bHave duo.

I've always struggled with wavy, frizzy hair. But since using this duo I can wash my hair, let it air dry and still have soft, smooth hair!! It's also completely changed the health of my hair. It's my holy grail shampoo and conditioner.

I've previously reviewed this here

theBalm En Root Pre-Styling Conditioning Spray*

While theBalm are known for their make up, I don't hear much about their hair products. Which is a shame, as I'm obsessed with this leave in conditioner.

It feels light on the hair and leaves it feeling soft and hydrated. It also smells INCREDIBLE!!!

John Frieda Nourishing Oil Elixir*

This has been a late inclusion, but it's so amazing that I just couldn't not rave about it.

I love that it's a lightweight oil, that still provides a lot of hydration. It also leaves my hair feeling so soft, smooth and silky. A pump of this in my hair, followed by a quick brush and it looks like I've put in so much effort.

I've previously reviewed this here.

Skincare

Mecca Cosmetica Lip De-Luscious Night Lip Treatment

This has a ouch-worthy pricetag of $32.00 and after a couple of uses I thought "NOOOOO I could have bought something better."

But then it happened... I fell in love!

It has a gorgeous candy scent. It has an almost thick oily feel. I apply this overnight and my lips feel so soft and hydrated the next day. After using it for the last 3 weeks, I'm hooked. I'm wanting to pick up the Kissable Lips Smoothing Lip Exfoliant next!

The Jojoba Company 100% Natural Make Up Remover* (not pictured)

This is my second bottle and I actually love it more now than I did before.

I'm trying to use up the many many products that I have and remembered that I had this. I love the pump applicator as it makes it so much easier to use and less messy.

It removes my make up quickly and easily and leaves my skin feeling so soft and smooth. I'll most likely purchase this again, although first I need to use up my other oil cleansers first!

Biore Deep Pore Charcoal Cleanser*

Biore do great, affordable cleansers and this new release is awesome. Even though it contains charcoal, which helps to absorb excess oil, it doesn't leave my skin feeling dry or tight.

I've previously reviewed this here.

Biore Self Heating One Minute Mask*

I'm fantastic when it comes to never sleeping in make up and I religiously use sunscreen everyday... but when it comes to using masks I'm hopeless.

But even I can use this for one minute, once a week!

It heats up and helps to purify your skin and leaves it feeling soft and smooth.

I've previously reviewed this here.

Boots Laboratories Optiva Radiance Refresh Tonic*
I normally love a spray toner, but lately have really loved this liquid toner. I apply this with a make up pad and it leaves my skin feeling refreshed.

Boots Optiva is currently on sale at Amcal until the 8th of June, and this toner is only $9 for 150ml.

DMK Super Bright*

I'm turning 30 in September and I'm really focusing on sorting out my skin so I have sparkling skin in my 30s.

Pigmentation is my biggest issue and I've been using this mask every night to help reduce the signs of pigmentation and sun damage.

DMK is a paramedical skincare range. I'm also using 2 other DMK products currently (the Deep Pore Pure Cleanser and Solar Damage Gel) and they're brilliant. They're kind and gentle on the skin, but you get great results.

I'm wanting to get the Direct Delivery Vitamin C Serum and the Herb & Mineral Mist, but I need to wait for pay day as they're on the pricey side.

SkinCeuticals Advanced Pigment Corrector*

This is a cream that I apply after my serum. It helps to repair any pigmentation and uneven-ness, but it also helps to prevent future damage.

As with all pigmentation products, you HAVE to apply sunscreen otherwise all of your hard work will be for nothing.

I've heard amazing things about the C E Ferulic serum (this one) and have heard the serum and corrector work amazingly together.

Just like with DMK, this brand is on the higher end price wise. But I haven't read a bad review about either brand. You're paying for quality ingredients and real results.

Nivea Lipbalms

I have 4 different Nivea lipbalms that I'm currently using. I use the Milk & Honey and the Olive & Lemon* balms when I have dry lips and the Soft Rose or the Fruity Shine (Peach)* when I'm wanting more of a glossy look.

The Peach lipbalm is AMAZING. It smells beautiful (like the Peach Spritz drink) and gives a hint of colour and gloss.

I love that they're inexpensive (I bought the Milk & Honey and the Soft Rose at Coles on Saturday on sale 2 for $6) but still work fantastically.

Make Up

Maybelline Color Elixir Liquid Color Balms

I've been really loving the new Maybelline Color Elixir Liquid Color Balms.

I have 3 colours and love how glossy and long lasting they are. They're exclusive to Priceline currently. I'm wanting to pick up some more colours, but I'm waiting for them to be on special as they're $17.95 each here in Australia.

I've previously reviewed them here

And those have been my most reached for products. There hasn't been a lot, but they have been consistently in my beauty rotation.

Is there anything that you've been loving?

  1. I so love the bhave products too - I cannot rave enough about them. I have very few products that I classify as HG products, but they are definitely on my list, they have made such a huge difference to the health of my hair too!
