These Are A Few Of My Favourite Things... September 2016 Favourites

Friday 14 October 2016

Last month I combined my July and August favourites in one post (see here) and looking back at it, I'm still using all of the products and adoring them. I even went and bought my second bottle of The Body Shop Shade Adjusting Lightening Drops last week. These have been a lifesaver for me as most affordable foundations don't do shades pale enough for me. Even though the bottle isn't huge, I bought the bottle at the start of the year in January (see my review here) and only just had to buy a new bottle so it's been value for money!

Natio recently released 2 new eyeshadow palettes. These palettes are quite different to palettes they've previously released and look quite similar to the MAC 15 eye shadow palettes. They have a pink/purple version and a gold/nude version available. At only $19.95, you can afford both. Both of the Natio Natural Shades Eyeshadow Palettes have a mix of mattes, shimmers and glitters. Like most brands, the shimmers are the stand outs. The mattes and glitters are more hit and miss.

I've been addicted to the Rimmel 15th Anniversary Lasting Finish Lipstick By Kate,* especially the 3 red lipsticks. Idol Red is my go to lipstick lately. It's an orange based red that's really bright and cheerful (even when I'm not!).

Another great lipstick launch is the Mary Kay Gel Semi-Matte Lipsticks.* Firstly, the packaging of these are beautiful. The packaging is much more high end than their other lipsticks. They remind me of Rouge D'Armani lipsticks. Because they're not quite matte, they never feel dry on your lips. I've also been using the Mary Kay Lip Liners* both with and without the lipsticks. Some days I just like to use the lip liners underneath a balm for long lasting, effortless colour.

Recently I went for a facial* at the Jurlique Burnside store. One of the great things about the facial is being able to try the products on your face to see if you like it. They had just released their Activating Water Essence, so I was really excited to be able to trial it in my facial. Essences are an important step in K Beauty and they're slowly trickling into western brands ranges. An essence is a hybrid of a toner and serum and is great for adding hydration and a glow to your skin. It's been love at first use and I know once I finish this I'll be buying another bottle.

Another trend that's getting bigger and bigger are cleansing oils. Most of the one's I've tried are $30+ but lately more drugstore brands are releasing them. The Simple Kind To Skin Hydrating Cleansing Oil is a lightweight cleanser that's also free from mineral oil. It only has 8 ingredients and is something I'd recommend to someone who's new to oil cleansers. It's also only $10!

Jade Rollers have been on my radar for a while, but I recently bought one from Dusk By Adele when I also ordered a cleansing oil from the site. I apply an oil (any type of oil is fine but I prefer chia seed, macadamia or rosehip oil) and use the jade roller to push the oil deeper into the skin. This one has two ends, one larger and one smaller, which helps me to use it all over my face and chest. You can read more about the benefits of Jade rollers here.

I received the Essano Argan Oil Of Morocco Duo Pack in the latest box of "The Parcel" (reviewed here) and I've been so impressed. I've been using salon quality brands for the last few years and wasn't expecting much since Essano is a supermarket/drugstore brand but I was so impressed. It's left my hair feeling nourished, soft and hydrated. I'm going to pick up full size bottles for myself and my daughters to use in my next supermarket shop.

Another product that was in The Parcel was the Narciso Rodriguez For Her Eau De Toilette. It's a beautiful musky scent. If you love the MOR Marshmallow scent, then you'll love this. I want to get the full size version soon!

I've been using my Irresistible Me Ruby 2 Way Auto Rotating Curler(not pictured as I had just used it and it was cooling down) a LOT this month. I'm adoring rocking a center part with 70s boho loose curls and this curler is perfect for achieving that look. While the wand rotates itself, I also sometimes do use this without the auto feature. I love this so much that I took it on holiday with me last month. I've previously reviewed it here.

On Instagram I've featured the Grow Gorgeous 10 Minute Stimulating Scalp Masque quite a lot but I've also fallen in love with the Overnight To Gorgeous Hair Masque.* When I use this, my hair feels so soft and silky. I love that I can use this before going to sleep and then skip my hair mask in the morning. It's great to use when I need to wash my hair but also want to sleep in!!

This month I have a disappointing product. The Real Techniques Brush Cleansing Palette is something that a lot of bloggers rave about, but I prefer my brush cleansing glove. I find that when I use the RT palette, water gets stuck in the palette unless i angle it so it's completely upright.

And those are the products that I'm loving and reaching for lately. What products do you adore?

  1. Natio Palettes look beautiful, I have not seen it in my local priceline yet, waiting for its review and swatches.

  2. Ooh, I've never heard of jade rollers before, but I must say that I'm intrigued now... but I have to ask, does it actually work? Have you seen benefits from using it with your facial oils? I would be very interested in a full review if you decide to write one!
