Reviewed: Braun Silk-epil 9 SkinSpa, Not Your Usual Hair Remover!

Braun Silk-epil 9 SkinSpa

I remember using an epilator in my late teens and it was torture! Not only did it sound like a jack hammer, it felt like torture too! I only used it a few times but threw it away shortly after.

Luckily over the last 10-15 years they've tweaked the technology and epilators are much easier and more comfortable to use.

I was recently sent the Braun Silk-epil 9 SkinSpa* and have been loving using it. It's not your usual epilator as it does more than just hair removal.

The epilator has quite a large head so you're able to pick up more hairs. Because it's larger, I've found that it works really quickly even if you're working on a large section of your body like your legs or thighs.

The tweezers on the head of the epilator can catch hairs that are as small as 0.5mm so you don't have to wait too long in between hair removal sessions.

The epilator does make noise. While it's not too loud, the first time you use it can feel a bit scary due to the noise and the fact that you know it will be pulling out hairs! But it honestly sounds worse than it feels. It feels like being flicked. It's not painful just slightly uncomfortable.

The epilator is a wet dry model which makes it easier to clean. You can also use it in the shower. If you either use it in the shower or have a shower before using the epilator, it helps to dull some of the pain.

There are 2 speed settings. I'd suggest trying the first speed as it's a little bit slower and gentler while the second speed is faster and is great for making sure there are no hairs left behind.

As well as being an epilator, it's also a shaver. It's great having the option to shave as sometimes you might prefer to shave your arms but epilate your legs and this way you can only take it away with you and have both options. It has a trimmer attachment which is great to use if it's been a while between sessions and you want to trim rather than shave.

It also contains 3 body attachments. There are 2 exfoliation brushes. The purple brush head is for a gentle exfoliation while the blue brush head gives a deeper exfoliation. The blue brush head is amazing to use before and after applying fake tan for exfoliating on those hard patches of skin like your knees and elbows. It also is great to use to help stop any ingrown hairs.

The other attachment is the deep massaging pad. This is amazing to use any place that you get cellulite. I also find it really relaxing to use on my feet if I've been walking or standing all day.

Because it's cordless, it makes it easy to use and take anywhere you want to remove hair.

As well as being amazing at hair removal, this also comes with a facial cleansing brush. It's a really easy to use the sonic facial brush as there are 2 buttons on the device.

This also has 3 different brush heads. There's the white brush head for a normal cleanse. The pink brush head is great if you have sensitive skin and then there's the blue brush head that helps to exfoliate your skin.

While it retails for $299, it does have a lot of attachments and features which make it worth the money! I really loved trialing this and will continue to use use it, especially the epilator. I really enjoyed using it and have loved having long lasting results!

Have you used an epilator before?

  4. Ohhh, if you've read my previous blog posts you'd know how much of an epilator junkie I am and how much I absolutely LOVE this epilator. It's honestly the best one I've tried in my 10 years of epilating. I cannot recommend it enough!
