Review: VS miniPRO Curl Magic

Tuesday 1 May 2012

received this as apart of the Priceline Gift Bag when I went to their Cosmo Beauty Workshop earlier in the year. I hadn't ever used one of the clampless curling irons before, so I was excited to be able to try this out, as I'm looking at buying a full size clampless iron.

The great thing with the miniPRO range, is that they're perfect for travelling. They're small enough to put in your handbag, and it comes with a little pouch to store it in.

Even though it's miniature, you still get all the benefits of the full size. Without the clamp, you don't get any "dents" or "kinks" in the hair. It has ceramic technology, so it's kinder to your hair.

Now it does take a while to get used to using it.  Just like curling, everyone has a different method that works for them, so don't use this for the first time when you're rushed. When you first use it, you'll find that the curls can be very different while you're learning how to hold it, how much hair to curl and how long to hold it for. Play around with it to find what method works best for you.

I found the back harder to do because not only am I uncordinated, the curler is small and I had no glove to protect myself. So it was more beachy waves, than curls in the back.

On the VS website they have a video of how to use it, which you can see here

The mimiPRO doesn't include the glove, so you need to be super careful, especially since it is smaller. It has a little holder in between the tong and handle where you can rest the iron on the counter without damaging it. You can see in the picture above it resting on the table with the black holder keeping the tong from damaging the tabletop.

If you have long hair, invest in the full size unless you only want your ends curled. It's the perfect size if you have a bob or shoulder length hair.

I used Sunsilk Detangling Spray and then followed up with Sunsilk Keratinology Heat Protectant Spray before drying my hair. Then applied the Nak Argan Oil before curling my hair.

After curling it, I brushed it out then sprayed the David Babaii Bohemian Beach Spray in to hold the curl for the rest of the day. I didn't take any pictures after brushing it out (Sorry!) .

This retails for $32.95 in Australia.

Have you used a clampless curling iron before?

  1. This looks like a fab little curler but speaking as an un-co person myself it is a little dangerous to use it without that infamous glove. The result looks amazing though, well done:) I like VS mini products, I have their mini straightener and it does a great job.

Thanks for the link to my post X

  2. I've got this curler as it came with my full size one but never used it as I do have long hair. It sounds easy enough to use although I'm not sure what to do with mine since I don't think I will ever use it!
