Rave: Nude By Nature BB Cream

Saturday 25 August 2012

I had bought this a few weeks ago and have been trailing it on and off and finally feel like I've used it enough to be able to give a fair review on it.

Here's what they say...

It's a 5-in-1 miracle cream that contains natural sunscreen. It
hydrates
corrects
perfects
protects
gives your skin natural radiance

Here's what I say...

The first time I tried it, I can say I was disappointed. Mostly because it claims to be a BB cream, but it really is a tinted moisturiser. When I take that into consideration, I LOVE it!

Hydrates
It's quite a thick cream and moisturises without being greasy, oily or sticky. Once it's applied and rubbed in it feels light on the skin. I haven't had break outs using this, which is what I got when I use the original Garnier BB cream for more than a few days at a time.

Corrects
While it contains mineral pigments to conceal blemishes and even out your complexion, it can only conceal so much. If you have a few blemishes, it's fine. But if you're like me and have redness or pigmentation, this alone will not conceal them. Same with acne scars. You're either going to have to wear a heavy duty concealer, or embrace your skin just the way it is. Once I have on concealer, to deal with the pigmentation and redness, the overall look is great.

In the left hand side of the photo, it has been rubbed in (which is hard to see), then in the middle I've started to rub some in so you can see the "light colour" and at the end, how it looks straight out of the tube.

Perfects
The mineral pigments help to cover imperfections (to a degree) and helps to revive dull skin, making it radiate.

Protects
This BB cream includes natural sunscreens. So while it's great for incidental sun exposure (like walking to the bus stop, putting out the washing on the line and going from the car park to the shops) it isn't adequate enough to really protect you. If I'm staying inside then I love to wear this around the house and know if I want to go outside for 5-10 minutes to play with my daughter in the backyard, I have some sun protection. But I have been more diligent with my sun protection (I'm getting into the habit for summer), and apply a separate sunscreen daily regardless of what I have planned or if the sun is out.

Radiance
It does give you a really nice glow, that's perfect for either a summer day when you want less of a make up look, or in winter when you want a glow.

A few other things that I love about it, is that it's free of toxic chemicals, parabens, preservatives and sulphates. NBN is Australian owned and not tested on animals.

Another thing to keep in mind is that it has a used by date of 6 months from opening.

Overall, I do love this. It's great for a make up free look, but it definitely is more of a tinted moisturiser than a classic Asian BB cream.

Nude By Nature BB cream is $19.95 and is available in light, medium and dark.

  1. Great review! I've had my eyes on this, but I wasn't too sure about it. Now I think I might have to give it a go! Might just wait for a sale, though. x

  2. There are a lot of these "BB Creams" out now, I still haven't been tempted to give one a try... Mind you, the light shade never seems to be light enough for me :(

    1. This is quite light. I found the Garnier one too orange, but this is perfect :)

  3. I have seen this around, but haven't been too sure about it! The Garnier BB Cream has started to break me out as well, so I may have to give this a try! Sounds great for days when my skin is behaving.

  4. I was really curious about this product, thanks for the review I'm now confident to try it! I've heard so much bad stuff about the Garnier one that I'd never tried it, but this one sounds much better!

    1. I think the Garnier one is either a love or hate product, especially if you have oilier skin. But this one is fantastic!

  5. I'm pretty keen on my Missha BB cream but this sounds like a great idea for a less 'made up' look. Great review :)

    1. I've only heard great things about the Missha BB cream. I'm still yet to try it though.

  6. I like the idea of it but I wonder why they would call it a BB cream if it's more like a tinted moisturiser. I still love my Australis HD tinted moisturiser but I was a little disappointed with the Garnier one X

    1. I think some of it is just marketing, since BB creams are the new big thing. But either way, I still love it for a light coverage :)

  7. I have tried everything on the market as I have very sensitive, pale skin with adult acne. I have had all skin treatments with no avail like micro's, every peel I can think of etc etc. I have been using Nude by nature BB cream for 4 weeks. At first it didnt seem to cover my redness from my acne. So I used a tiny bit of concealer on the top of it. But now that I havent been putting a load of chemically induced moisturiser on my face I have seen a massive difference. I absolutely love this cream and now will never use anything else. I have battled with adult acne for 10years+ at last something is working for me.

    1. WOW!!! That's amazing and impressive! I'm so glad it worked for you! :D

I like that it's almost a skincare cover up! And thanks for leaving the comment! I love hearing other peoples positive experiences on products I've tried.

  8. I'm using the light nude by nature BB cream too. This is a very accurate review I must say!! I do love it because it hydrates and does offer a little coverage which is nice because I don't like heavy makeup. On days that I need a little more cover I just dust a bit of bronzer over the top which gives it a nice finish ... Great review!! Xx

  9. I very early wear makeup, just lots of sunscreen and im very anti SLSs, but as I approach 40 I'm feeling the need for a little help. I've tried a few other products but I have found they can clog into lines. This I'm loving. I don't feel like I have any make up on at all but I look refreshed, which helps when you have a kid that hasn't slept for4.5 years! I love it, I do have to add a little cream blush but that helps me feel girlie.
