Sleeping Beauty: Beauty Products That Work Overnight

Saturday 15 February 2014

Night time is the perfect time to tackle skin problems. Your beauty products aren't having to compete with make up and pollution, and your body is busy rejuvenating itself while you sleep.

There are so many amazing products that will help you to wake up with radiant skin and hair. You just need to find the best ones for your skin and hair type.

Creams and moisturisers

Along with serums, a night cream is where I like my money to go. You can get away with basic cleansers and toners, but when it comes to repairing the skin, a powerful serum and night cream is essential... especially if you have skin concerns like uneven skintone, pigmentation and wrinkles.

There are many creams on the market. Some are used under a moisturiser, while others are your night time moisturiser. 3 night time creams that I love are the Arbonne RE9 Advanced Night Repair Creme*, Pevonia Renewing Glycocides Cream* and the Skin Physics Overnight Perfecting Cream*

The Arbonne cream is apart of their RE9 range. The range has 9 age-defying ingredients (like vitamin C, peptides and Alpha and Beta Hydroxy Acids), botanicals and natural enzymes to make your skin both radiant and younger looking. It also helps with skin texture, redness and lines.

It retails for $121 from the Australian site for 30ml. You can purchase it here.

The Pevonia Renewing Glycocides Cream is a night time cream that I apply under my moisturiser every 2nd or 3rd night. It makes my skin glow and helps to give it an even texture. It contains Glycolic acid and Hyaluronic acid to both hydrate and clear clogged pores.

I've previously review it here.

It retails for $118 for 50ml. You can purchase it here

The Skin Physics Overnight Perfecting Cream is a more affordable night cream. This exfoliates your skin overnight, leaving you with clear and soft skin. It will also reduce redness and acne blemishes, minimize the appearance of pores and also hydrate your skin.

It's really an all in one cream that's great for those that don't want anything too rich or heavy. It's perfect for someone that's looking at using a night cream for the first time.

It retails for $59.99 for 50ml. You can purchase it from Priceline stores and online

Serums

A product that's really easy to include into your routine is the Indeed Laboratories Hydraluron Moisture Booster.* It's a clear gel that you can apply over a serum or use by itself. It helps to hydrate your skin regardless of if you have dry or oily skin. Because it's a gel, it's not heavy or oily.

I've previously reviewed this here

It retails for $34.99 for 30ml. You can purchase it from Priceline stores and online.

Spot treatments

If you have oily skin or acne, then night time is the best time to use a cream to deal with those dreaded imperfections. ALWAYS clean your face, otherwise the cream won't be able to penetrate and kill those pesky pimples.

I love the La Roche-Posay Effaclar Duo.* It's gentle enough for any skin type, but is still strong enough to reduce the severity of a pimple and heal it quickly. Depending on my skin, I either use this as more of a spot treatment or also all over my face. It can be used both day or night.

This retails for $25.99 for 40ml. You can purchase it from Priceline and selected pharmacies.

Eye cream

I prefer to use a gel eye cream in the day as I find it light and sinks into my skin easily. At night I like to use an eye cream as it's usually a bit heavier and more nourishing.

The Pond's Dual Action Eye Cream* is a wonderful 2 in 1 product that helps to fight the signs of aging and also reduces puffiness.

You apply the left side (pink) to above the eye and up to your eye brows. It helps to reduce the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles. The right side (white) is applied to underneath the eye and helps to brighten the area and reduce puffiness and dark circles.

It retails for $29.99 for 20ml. It's exclusive to Priceline stores and online

Hair

There are some great options for your hair too! I like to apply heavier creams the night before I wash my hair.

The Tresemme Split Remedy Split End Sealing Serum feels more like a hair oil than a cream. It sinks into the hair really easily and doesn't leave it feeling heavy.

It can be used in the day to help reduce frizz and increase shine, but it's great for also hydrating the hair overnight.

They also have a leave in conditioner in the range which I love. It would be perfect for those with fine hair that don't want to use a oil or cream.

It retails for $9.99 for 97ml. It's available from supermarkets and pharmacies.

Another amazing product is the Pantene Pro-V Night Miracle Leave In Treatment.* It's a cream that feels heavier, so it's best to use the night before washing your hair. It helps to repair the hair overnight, as well as smooth and hydrate it.

It's perfect for anyone that doesn't have time for a hair mask. All I do is wash my hair the next day and my hair feels soft and smooth.

It retails for $9.99 for 80ml. It's available from supermarkets and pharmacies.

Do you use anything at night to add to your beauty sleep?

    1. Ohh what a shame. I love the feel of it. It's heavier than an oil but works fantastic overnight.

  2. Great products you have here. I have tried the La Roche-Posay Effaclar Duo with my acne and it worked. I actually adviced it to my daughter. I wanna try out the hair care products that you have used. They seem to be great products to try out since I am having troubles with my hair lately.
