Back To Basics: My Favourite Tinted Moisturisers, BB & CC Creams

Thursday 28 August 2014

Over the last 2 months, I've scaled my make up back a lot. Instead of the usual primer, foundation, concealer, powder routine, I've fallen in love with my tinted moisturisers, mineral make up, BB and CC creams.

I like that they help to even out my skintone but is light and feels refreshing. It's also super easy, and quick, to use and is just the amount of coverage that I need.

One of my favourites has to be the Arbonne Sheer Finish Tinted Moisturizer SPF 15* in "Fair." It's lightweight, yet moisturising. It really lives up to its name of being sheer. It has light coverage and blends into the skin really easily.

It's pricey at $51, but I only need a small amount so it will last a lifetime.

I love using this either by itself or underneath a powder. I've either been using this underneath the Arbonne Sheer Pressed Powder* in "Light" or underneath my Nude By Nature Natural Mineral Cover in "Light."

The Nude By Nature mineral foundation is from a limited edition pack I bought here. It's not full size, so it's a great way of trying a few products at a great price.

I've also been going back to my Innoxa Skin Perfecting 5 in 1 BB Cream Foundation. This is more like a CC cream as it has skincare qualities. It's quite similar to the Arbonne tinted moisturiser, where it gives light coverage. I also love using this under mineral foundation or I set it with a matte powder to stop shine.

I've previously reviewed this here.

While BB creams can be hit and miss, I have 2 favourite CC creams. One of them is the Mary Kay CC Cream Sunscreen SPF 15.* It has 8 benefits and is suitable for all skintones. It helps to brighten my skin, while also minimising redness. While I always wear sunscreen, it's nice to have that extra bit of sun protection.

I love the packaging of this. It's sleek and has a pump!! There are 4 shades available. It's one of the very few CC creams that I've seen come in darker shades.

I like to set this with a powder and then follow it up with 2-3 sprays of either the Mary Kay Make Up Finishing Spray By Skindinavia* or the NYX Make Up Setting Spray in Matte Finish depending on if I need moisture or a mattifying effect.

And lastly, I've been obsessed with the Max Factor CC Cream* since October last year and it's still on high rotation nearly a year later. This is my second tube and it's one of the best "drugstore" options for someone looking for light coverage.

It gives me a gorgeous glow while also giving more evenness to my skintone. I like to set it with powder to stop afternoon shine.

I love the packaging. It's perfect for travelling as it has a screw top to keep it safe from spilling in a makeup bag.

I've previously reviewed it here

I've also heard great things about the CC creams from Clinique, Bourjois, ELES and Klara Cosmetics, but haven't used them.

What's your favourite tinted moisturiser, BB or CC cream?
